“Art is in the eye of the beholder,…”

-E.A. Bucchianeri

There is more to this quote, that I honestly do not remember ever hearing, until researching who to give credit to. It ends: “... and everyone will have their own interpretation.” Regardless as to whether or not my subconscious knew that, the first part of the quote was imparted on me at a young age and has resonated with me ever since and I have grown a deep appreciation for art in all of its forms. To me, if it makes you think, if it inspires an idea, if it brings an idea to life, if it evokes emotion, it is art.

My “Brand of Art”

I find inspiration to create everywhere, and bringing those ideas to life is my “art”. I try not to limit myself by the skills I already have, but often like to explore new skills and mediums to create unique, mostly useful pieces. Most of the time I create to “solve a problem that isn’t really a problem”, or make something because “I think mine will be cooler than the store bought one” with the occasional “make something pretty for pretty’s sake”. I honestly do not know if I can define my art into a brand or type, I am not specific to one avenue of craft or trade but the things I create challenge me mentally, are inspired from the things around me and are ultimately brought to life by my hands. That brings me joy, and joy to my clients whose ideas I have been able to bring to life.

Having said that, and looking at what my interpretation of art is, I can confidently say that I am an artist and my art is the passion and craftsmanship of creating something yourself.
